Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia!

He was on his way home from Can-dle-top,

been two weeks gone
8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8 7
and he’d thought he’d stop at Web’s
7 7 -7 -6 -7 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
and have him a drink ‘fore he went home to her.
-6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6
An-dy Wo-lo said «hel-lo».
7 8 8 -10 -9 -8
He said «Hi, what’s do-in’?»
-8 -8 7 7 7 7 -6 -7 -7
Wo said «Sit down I got some bad news,
-7 -6 6 -6
it’s gon-na hurt».
5 -6 -6 -6 -6 -6
He said «I’m your best friend
-6 -7 6 6 6
and you know that’s right.
7 8 8 8 -9 -8 -8 7
But your young bride ain’t home to-night.
7 7 7 -7
Since you been gone
-6 -7 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
she’s been see’n that A-mos boy Seth».
5 -6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6
Now he got mad and he saw red.
7 8 8 8 8 8 -9 -8 -8
An-dy said «boy don’tcha lose your head,
-8 -7 7 7 7 7
cause to tell you the truth
-7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
I’ve been with her my-self».
Chorus: (Change to Key of G)

-4 -4 -4
That’s the night

-4 4 5 5 5 -4 4 4
that they hung an in-no-cent man.
6 7 -8 -8 -8
3 4 -4 -4 -4
Well don’t trust your soul

4 -4 5 5 5 -4 4 2

Verse 2:

2
Well, (Change to Key of Eb)
-6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6
An-dy got scared and left the bar.
6 7 8 8 8 8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8
An’ walk-in’ on home ’cause he did-n’t live far;
-8 -8 7 7 7 7 7 -7 -6 -7
you see An-dy did-n’t have ma-ny friends,
-7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
and he’d just lost him one.
-6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6 6
Bro-ther thought his wife must-‘ve left town,
6 7 8 8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8 -8
so he went on home and fin-al-ly found
7 7 7 7 -7 -6 -7 -7
the on-ly thing Dad-dy left him
-7 -7 -6 6 -6
and that was a gun.
-6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6
He went off to An-dy’s house,
7 8 8 8 8 -10
slip-pin’ through the back-woods
-9 -8 -8 -8 8
qui-et as a mouse.
7 7 7 7 -6
Came up-on some tracks
-7 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
too small for An-dy to make.
5 -6 -6 -6 -6
He looked through the screen
-6 -6 -7 6 6
at the back porch door
6 7 8 8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8 -8
an’ he saw An-dy ly-in’ on the floor
-8-7 7 7 7 7
in a pud-dle of blood
-7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
and he start-ed to shake.

so he fired a shot just to flag ’em down.
-7 -9 -9 -9 -9 -9 -9 8 -9
A big bel-lied sher-iff grabbed his gun
8 9 -9 8 8 8
and said «Why’d you do it?»
5
The (back to Eb)
-6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6 6
judge said «guil-ty» in a make be-lieve trial.
7 8 8 8 -8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8
Slapped the sher-iff on the back with a smile
-8 -8 7 7 7 -7 -6 -7
and said «Sup-per’s wait-in’ at home
-7 -7 -7 -6 6 6 -6
and I got to get to it».
Chorus (change to key of «G»)
Verse 3:
5 5 -6 -6 -6 -6
Well they hung my bro-ther

the tracks he saw

while on his way to An-dy’s house
-7-6 -7 -7 -7 -6 6 -6
and back that night were mine.
5 -6 -6 -6 -6 -6 -7 6 6 6
And his cheat-in’ wife had ne-ver left town,
6 7 8 8 8 -8 8 -9 -8 -8 -8
and that’s one bo-dy that-‘ll ne-ver be found

Tak-en years a-go,
7 7 7 7 -5 7 -7
Turned a-round back-wards so the

Wind-shield shows.
8 8 -7 7 7 -6 7 -7 7 7
Ev-er-y street-light re-veals the pic-ture

in re-verse.
8 -8 7 7 -7 7
Still, it’s so much clear-er.
7 7 7 -7 7 7 -5 -8 -8 7
I for-got my shirt at the wat-er’s edge.
-5 8 -8 7 -7 7
The moon is low to-night.
7 -7 7 -5 8 -8 7 -7 7
Night-swim-ming de-serves a qui-et night.
-5 7 7 7 -7 8 -8 7 -7 7
I’m not sure all these peo-ple un-der-stand.
-5 8 -8 7 -7 7
It’s not like years a-go,
-5 7 7 7 -7 7
The fear of get-ing caught,
-5 8 -8 7 -5 -7 7
Of reck-less-ness and wa-ter.
-7 8 -8 7 -7 -7 7
They can-not see me na-ked.
-5 7 7 7 -7 7
These things, they go a-way,
-5 8 -8 7 -7 7
Re-placed by ev-ry-day.
7 -7 7 -5 8 -8 7 -7 7
Night-swim-ming, re-mem-ber-ing that night.
-5 7 7 7 -7 8
Sep-tem-ber’s com-ing soon.
7 8 -8 7 -7 7
I’m pi-ning for the moon.
7 8 -8 7 -7 7
And what if there were two
7 7 8 -8 -7 7
Side by side in or-bit
-5 8 -8 7 -5 -7
A-round the fair-est sun
8 8 -8 7 -7 -7 7
That bright, tight for-ev-er drum
-5 7 7 7 -7 7 7
Could not des-cribe night-swim-ming.
-5 7 7 -7 -7 7
You, I thought I knew you.
7 7 7 -7 7
You I can-not judge.
8 -8 7 7 -7 7
You, I thought you knew me,
7 7 7 -7 7 7
This one laugh-ing quiet-ly
7 -5 8 -8 7
un-der-neath my breath.
7 -7 7
Night-swim-ming.
-5 7 7 7 -7 7
The pho-to-graph re-flects,
7 -7 8 -8 7 -7 -7 7
Ev-ry street-light a re-min-der.
7 -7 7 -5 8 -8 7 -7 7
Night-swim-ming de-serves a qui-et night,
-5 8 -8 7 -7 7
de-serves a qui-et night.
ENJOY!!!

Hey Y’all from the Tin Man
Well Folks if you liked or loved the song and my tab “Look What You’ve
Done, or your one of the 6 (Aussie you BASTEEERRRDD flea bitten
Varmint!!! included)that requested that I do this tab. Well then here
it is & your gonna go NUTS for this one.
To introduce it
The Harpist is John Sebastian (leader singer and harpist of the 60’s
Rock Group THE LOVIN SPOONFUL. This was a b side Vinyl instrumental to
one of their big hits, «What A Day For A Daydream».
If you are unfamiliar with it then I implore you to go to YOUTUBE and
type in Lovin spoonful NIGHT OWL BLUES and be blown away people!!! You
can also find «Look What you’ve done» by the rolling stones there or
download them also from something like Limewire. If you’re a Lovin Fan
then there are two others; Jug Band Intro and of course “lonely” Amy’s
Theme from the movie. If you want the tab to that one look up Aussie’s
Tabs as he has already done “Lonely” (thanks Aussie it was wonderful)
OKAY LETS GET TO IT
This is a Cross Harp song the band is in the key of A so you are gonna
need a D HARP TO PLAY THIS!!!!
this track is just 1:45 of NON STOP HARMONICA which posed several
challenges in tabulating. Basically folks what I’ve done is try to
break the riffs down in segments and each line of my tab is a Riff!!
If you all bare with me, I’m gonna make audio for you folks, where
I’ll break down the riffs for you and how to play it. Think of it as
an instructional to help you through this one. but i wont do the whole
song just key and difficult bits. ive posted two already to deal with
the opening riff. Ill post more as i get time!
Ohh and one last thing, as I stated in the forum post
I’VE DONE THIS BY EAR SO GIMME A BREAK !!!!!
o= overblow
fsb= FULL STEP BEND
hsb= HALF STEP BEND
dwah= to dwah means to put a tiny bend on it, start clean go slightly
bent and come back! i find it’s best achieved by saying DWAH on the
inbreath some people call it scooping
warble= shake your head NOT your hands between two notes!
HERE IT IS !!!!
-2,-3,4,-3-3,3,-2,-4b,3
-3&-4b (hold bend),-4o (so go from the bend to the overblow)
-4,-4,-4,-4-,-3,-4,-3b
-4,-4,-4,-3,-4 hold & shake (hand vibrato)
-4,-3,-4,-3,-3hsb(Dwah or scoop it),-2
-2,-2,3,-4,-3,-4,-3, Warble -3 & -4, 4, Warble -4 & -5

-2,-2,-3,-4,-5,-4,-3-4,-3,-2
-4,-4,-4,-4,-3,-4
-4,-5, draw slide to -2, -2b (Dwah or scoop bend)2
3,4, -2b (Dwah or scoop bend)2
-2, -2, -3, -3fsb,-3fsb,-3fsb,-3fsb,-3fsb,-3fsb,-3fsb (hold and shake
or hand vibrato
-6 (hold and say wee times 5 on in breath)-5, -4, -3b
-3,-3,-3,-3,-2fsb (dwah or scoop it)2
-4,-4,-4,-3,-4 to -4b
Warble -3 & -4 times 4
Warble -3 & -4 times 4
Warble -3 & -4 once then
-4 hold and hand vibrato or shake then
-6,6,-5, -4, -3b dwah, (dwah or scoop bend)-2
-3b,-3b,-3b hold &
Now warble between -3b & -4b times 3
-2,2, -3b hold it (& shake or hand vibrato)
-4,-4,-4,-3,-2,-2fsb,-2fsb, ,-2fsb,-2fsb,2fsb,
