Dust Bowl Blues

5 -5 -5 -4 5 5 -5 -5 -4 -3 -3″ -1
I just blowed in, and I got them dust bowl blues,
5 -5 -5 -4 5 5 -5 5 -4 -3 -3″ -2
I just blowed in, and I got them dust bowl blues,
-3″ 4 4 -3″ -3″ -3 -5 -5 -4 -3 -4
I– just blowed in, and I’ll blow back out again.

I guess you’ve heard about ev’ry kind of blues,
I guess you’ve heard about ev’ry kind of blues,
But when the dust gets high, you can’t even see the sky.

I’ve seen the dust so black that I couldn’t see a thing,
I’ve seen the dust so black that I couldn’t see a thing,
And the wind so cold, boy, it nearly cut your water off.

I seen the wind so high that it blowed my fences down,
I’ve seen the wind so high that it blowed my fences down,
Buried my tractor six feet underground.

Well, it turned my farm into a pile of sand,
Yes, it turned my farm into a pile of sand,
I had to hit that road with a bottle in my hand.

I spent ten years down in that old dust bowl,
I spent ten years down in that old dust bowl,
When you get that dust pneumony, boy, it’s time to go.

I had a gal, and she was young and sweet,
I had a gal, and she was young and sweet,
But a dust storm buried her sixteen hundred feet.

She was a good gal, long, tall and stout,
Yes, she was a good gal, long, tall and stout,
I had to get a steam shovel just to dig my darlin’ out.

These dusty blues are the dustiest ones I know,
These dusty blues are the dustiest ones I know,
Buried head over heels in the black old dust,
I had to pack up and go.
An’ I just blowed in, an’ I’ll soon blow out again.

Dunja, Du, …….

And we nev-er ev-er ev-er get roll-in drunk
7 8 9 8 6 7 -6 6

Where the at-mos-phere is great
-9 -9 -9 -9 -9 -9 8 -8 -9
I love to have a beer with Dun-can
8 9 8 -8 7
Cause Dun-cans me mate.

You can substitute the name Duncan, for any another, for example:
I love to have a beer with Robert (Johnny) (Eddy)
I love to have a beer with Bob (John) (Ed)
You can also substitute The Town and Country for your own hotel,
water-hole or Bar, for example The Horse and Jock-ey.
This song is very, very versatile!!!

1.
7 -6 7 7 7 -6 7
Welcome, stranger, to the show
7 -6 7 7 7 7 7 7 7
I’m the one who should be lying low
7 -6 7 7 7 7 7
Saw the knives out, turned my back
7 -6 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7
Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track
7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 -7 -7 -7 -7 -7
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of
-7 7 -7 -6
a dream
-7-6 7 7 -7 -7 7 7 7
I~~ lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
5 5 5 5 5 b-3
I’ve done all the dumb things
2.
Caught the fever, heard the tune
Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon
Started howling, made no sense
Thought my friends would rush to my defence
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I’ve done all the dumb things
3.
And I get all your good advice
It doesn’t stop me from going through these things twice
I see the knives out, I turn my back
I hear the train coming, I stay right on that track
In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream
I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings
I’ve done all the dumb things
7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7
I melted wax to fix my wings
5 5 5 5 5 b-3
I’ve done all the dumb things
7 7 7 7 7 7 7 7
I threw my hat into the ring
5 5 5 5 5 b-3

Dueling Banjos v2

This song (originally called “Feuding Banjos”)
was made popular by the movie Deliverance.
It consists of two banjos (one playing high and one
playing low). Basically, the low banjo plays the
notes first, and the high banjo repeats the same
notes an octave higher. This would be fun
for two harmonica players to try. Listen to the
midi if you’re not familiar with it.
LB = low banjo (a guitar was used in the movie)
HB = high banjo

[the next part is some incredibly quick
playing; personally, I’d stop playing here,
but I tried to tab the rest of the song; I
believe a fair amount of this is actually
played by just the HB while the LB actually
plays either chords or repeats the first 2 lines
below; I tried to tab it by high and low lines]:

Dueling Banjos (whole song)

To play this your must follow the ones and twos.
One represents regular play of the harmonica, but while playing the
two lines, you must keep the slide pressed in. So all the notes on
the number tow lines should have a < in front of them but I am a little too lazy to do that. And also make sure to check out the file link. It is what I used to make these tabs so you can use it for reference on the change of tempo that increasingly gets faster throughout the entire song. Have fun with this one. I like play with two different harmonicas to get different sounds. 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 6 6 -6 6 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 7 7 7 -7 7 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 -6 6 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 7 -7 7 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 3 4 4 -5 6 5 6 -5 2. 5 5 -5 6 5 1. 4 4 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 5 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 4 4 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 5 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 7 7 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 2. 7 7 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 1. 4 4 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 5 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 7 7 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 2. 7 7 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 6 6 -6 6 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 6 6 -6 6 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 3 4 4 -5 6 5 6 -5 2. 5 5 -5 6 5 Break For Instrumental Break(down) 1. 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 2. 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 1. 4 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 2. 5 -5 6 -6 7 -6 6 1. 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 2. 7 -7 -8 8 -9 8 -8 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 6 6 -6 6 1. 5 5 5 -5 5 2. 6 6 6 -6 6 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 2. 6 -6 7 6 -6 -5 6 5 -5 1. 3 4 4 -5 6 5 6 -5 2. 5 5 -5 6 5 Finish with another Instrumental Break(down)
